Whitney began dancing at the age of 3 in Timmins, ON. Taking an interest in all forms, she continued training in all facets of dance, including tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, hip hop and contemporary.

Through Whitney’s dance career, she has attended many dance workshops, lectures, master classes, and dance intensive programs. She has been honored to receive many dance scholarships and awards from several of these workshops.

Whitney started dancing recreationally and later expanded her dancing to a competitive level in University. She graduated from Brock University in the Child and Youth Studies program. Whitney competed for 4 years on the hip hop and tap competitive teams and competed in competitions such as the O.U.C.H (Ontario University Competition for Hip Hop), Terpsichore, and other competitions in Southern Ontario.

Whitney not only has a passion for dance, but for the area of teaching. Since graduating from University, she has been teaching dance in St. Catharines, Thunder Bay and Timmins, ON.

Recently a certified Zumba, Zumba Kids and Zumba Kids Jr. instructor, Whitney will be offering Zumba classes through Zumba Timmins Inc. Check out 'Zumba Timmins with Michelle Lapointe' on Facebook to see when and where Whitney will be teaching.

In 2012, Whitney formed “Get Up and Dance” which has offered dance workshops to all dancers in the community for one week in August. Since the first workshop in 2012, Get Up and Dance has become a recognized summer dance camp to the dancers in the community and due to this recognition, they are able to provide their dancers with some of the best dance training from professional dancers such as Christelle-Jean Chow, who choreographed for the camp in 2012 and 2015.

Whitney looks forward to sharing her passion for dance with all of her new and returning students!
